I know it can be hard to start implementing new habits especially pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to see new, faster, and better results but it must be done to attain your goals. The obstacles, the circumstances in your life, the struggles you have to go through won’t be easy. But once you come out of the other side, you become stronger.
In order to see more results in the gym, you need to push yourself out of your comfort zone, the more you push yourself out of your comfort zone, the more your comfort zone expands. In other words, if 100 pounds was heavy for you, if you keep lifting 100 pounds, you eventually will get comfortable with that. Then you add more weight to keep progressing.
Our body adapts to the stimulus we give it, for example, exercising more frequently and more intensely by burning fat tissue, adding lean muscle tissue, increasing lung capacity, faster recovery periods, etc. This is so that when we give the body the same stimulus, the body will be more prepared the next time around. And once the body has adapted inside and out via the inches lost, lean muscle tissue gained, increased stamina, etc. and you keep giving it the same workout, the body won’t have a reason to keep changing.
We can all learn from the story of Milo of Croton and the calf. Milo was the certainly the most successful wrestler of his time, winning the Ancient Olympic Games in wrestling six times. His record was exemplary thanks to his training.
