My Notes on The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck


Below, you’ll see my personal notes from Mark Manson’s book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck. I personally think it started out great but fizzled out pretty fast. With that said, I only have a few takeaway notes from the book. A great read nonetheless.
 
Don't ask for a life without problems. That doesn't exist. Hope and work having a life full of good problems.
Just because something feels good doesn't mean it's good. Just because something feels bad doesn't mean it's bad. Pain serves a purpose. Emotions do not last. What makes us happy will not make us happy tomorrow...because our biology wants more.
Hedonic treadmill - what once made us happy can also make us mad. Our partner, the work that provides also makes us work long hours or times where we don't want to work, the sports we love also stresses us out when we lose.
Choose your struggle - don't just tell us what you want, tell us what pain you're willing to endure. If you want that corner office at the 35th floor, you should be willing to work long hours, have the social strength for office politics, etc
